This book has many strenghts. It is used on careful and comprehensive research... The arguments and conclusions are supported by strong evidenc from primary sources, some of which is used here for the first time. It sheds a great deal of new light not just on the war itself but on related subjects such as civil-military relations in Israel, the policy-making process in defence andf foreign affairs, the extraordinary influence exerted by chief of staff Moshe Dayan in pushing Israel into war, and the preceded the attack on Egypt. Further, the volume uses recently released secret papers to show that the operative military branches in Britain, France and Israel were deliberately fed misinformation by the political leaderships.
