Summary: In most African countries, the ideas of peace, justice, liberty, democracy and economic prosperity have been grossly indermined by perennial political, social and Economic crises. Since the mind 1980's however, a renewed drive for peace and good governance has swept across Africa in what has come to be knoown as Africa's "second Liberation". Church leaders have been key acors in this drive as is evident in their peacemaking initiatives and their commitment to peaceful change.
