| Summary, etc. | Report on the U.S. and the U.N.: A Balance Sheet. Prepared in response to public law 98-164 enacted by the 98th U.S. Congress. A number of developments over more than a decade have roused congressional concern about the U.S. role in the U.N. Implicitly, congress is asking gingerly and tentatively, whether the U.S. should remain in the U.N. Among this developments prompting this query are the long list of U.N. votes opposing American interests, the U.N. personnel practices which discriminate against Americans and the glaring failure of the U.N. to live up to its own charter and to help those in the world most in need of help. |
